Advents Feria for the Wednesday after Gaudete Sunday

Dear Fathers, Brothers, Sisters in Christ

Jeremiah 23:5-8
 Psalm 72:1-2, 12-13, 18-19
 Matthew 1:18-25

Justice shall flourish in His time, and fullness of peace for ever.
 (see Psalm 72)

There is a longing in every human heart for a world where justice flourishes and peace is without end. It is not necessarily heaven,
though we certainly long for that, but it is that this world be without sin.

Are you tired of being impatient with yourself and others, of the way everything is so mixed up and out of order?

That, my friends, is why we need Advent. We need something to lift our sagging spirits, to give us hope, to set this aright and to
fan the living flame of love burning deep within all human hearts.

How can that happen except through the power and goodness of God who promised such an incredible thing as His Son becoming flesh and dwelling among us?

Come then, Lord Jesus.
Come, let justice and the fullness of peace come.
Let there be peace on earth--a world without sin.
 Amen!
