Feria on Wednesday... Jesus Christ, our Saviour

Dear Fathers, Friends in Christ,

Hosea 8:4-7, 11-13
 Psalm 115:3-4, 5-6, 7ab-8, 9-10
 Matthew 9:32-38

Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel. . . .
(Matthew 9:33)

Indeed, nothing like that had ever been seen in Israel, what the people of the time did not know was that nothing like Jesus had ever been seen anywhere in the world. Jesus is unique among all the good and holy people who have ever lived because He alone was born from God in a physical sense. Others may have been born of the Spirit, may have been enlightened and done God's good work. But no other had ever been God in the flesh.

The world had never seen the like of Jesus before. It scared the people of that time and so they put an end to Him. But we live in a time and place that has had long to reflect and to realize what a wonderful gift we have in this Son of God who is God Himself. O Praise Him!

Let nothing disturb you--
 Let nothing affright you--
 All things are passing--
 God Alone is changeless--
 Patience wins all things--
 Who has God, wants nothing--
 God Alone Suffices.
(St. Teresa of Avila)
