1 Corinthians 3:18-23
Psalm 24:1bc-2, 3-4ab, 5-6
Luke 5:1-11
There are three thoughts that weave through the readings for today that "catch" my attention.
First, the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's eyes.
Second, because the world, including everything it contains, was created and belongs to Him, it is subject to Him.
And finally, when God asks you to do what seems impossible and senseless, do it ~ even though, like Peter, you might rightfully say: "Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing!"
(Luke 5:5)
Regardless, do as the Lord commands and lower the nets again! In doing so, the wisdom of the world is confounded and God's omnipotent and mysterious plan for salvation is accomplished.
