Mark 10:17-27
"Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
What must you do? The young man did not care for the answer. He had done all the easy and superficial things. He loved those who loved him, he took care of the poor, he obeyed the Ten Commandments.
But what he could not do is what God does ask of each of us--to put God Himself at the center of our lives and at the top of our list. We need not sell all that we have, but we do need to be willing to do so. We need to trust God, to love God enough to know that He is always true. He will always keep His promises. He will love each of us as though we were His only child.
