Feria on this friday 24 July 2015 - Really experiencing Jesus

Dear Fathers , Friends in Christ ,

'Experiencing Jesus'

Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.
Matthew 13:17

Jesus' words to his disciples can be summed up in these four little words: How lucky you are! Yes, how lucky the disciples were because they had the privilege of experiencing Jesus up close and personal. We often envy them! But the truth is we share in that same privilege even though we don't see and hear Jesus in the same way as his first disciples did. Nevertheless, we still experience him up close and personal. When and how? We experience Jesus in our daily prayer and in reflecting on Scripture (as you are doing right this minute). We experience Jesus at Mass, in the Eucharist, in the other sacraments and in the love of family and friends. We also experience Jesus in our pain and sorrow as well as our pleasures and joys. And in a special way, we experience Jesus every time we help someone in need.
