Ember Saturday - Are your affairs in order ?

Dear Fathers, Friends in Christ,

Welcome to my blog on this Ember Saturday in September.

Share the Holy Gospel with me:

The Gospel
St. Matthew 24:42-47.

WATCH therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

Not far from where I live there is an Adventist Church and whenever I have to drive into Bendigo City , I have to drive right past it.

There are always billboards outside, in August they had a convention with lectures  advertising that there is secret prophecy available to tell us when the Lord will return as He promised us. Another favourite billboard of Jesus, showing Him after He has risen from the dead  with the
comments "what is next? Whilst there are indications in the Holy Scriptures to tell us that Christ's coming cannot be far away , we are  also being told that " nobody knows the hour when the Son of men shall return"  and in God's time one day is like a thousand years.

e.g. see The Return of the Son of Man
Saint Luke 21 verse 25"There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, 26men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.…

See also Matthew 24:36" But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."

And Matthew 25:13 gives us this advice : "Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh"

As I said earlier this week , the Ember days are days for prayer, meditation and reflection. Now is a good time to search our souls whether we are ready now for our Blessed Jesus's return. Let's get our affairs in order for tomorrow it could be too late.
