Dear Friends in Christ,
Luke 6:20-26
Do you feel like I sometimes feel? That everything seems to be completely turned upside down?
That's nothing compared to what Jesus says in today's Gospel. "Woe to you and blessed are you." He says this over and over and it's like He's flipped, saying what people think is onerous is good and vice versa. He has taken what the world considers desirable and shown us its true nature. He has revealed the illusions of His time and our time and all time and shown us what really counts, what has substance and what is everlasting.
"So, calm down," I tell myself and remember that there is One greater than anyone who might think they know it all -- the One, the True, the Almighty God! He alone is the arbiter of what is good and to whom the Kingdom will belong -- of those who are hungry, sorrowful, despised and hated, all of that and more, on His account.
