Dear Fathers, Friends in Christ
Malachi 3:13-20
Psalm 1:1-2, 3, 4 and 6
Luke 11:5-13
Doesn't today's First Reading seem to echo some thoughts that probably we have
all had?
"What good does it do to follow the commands of God?"
"Where does it get us?"
After all, it seems like everyone who does "their own thing" is having a great time
and prospering besides!
Well, the reason is spelled out by God in no uncertain terms:
For lo, the day is coming, blazing like an oven,
when all the proud and all evildoers will be stubble,
And the day that is coming will set them on fire,
leaving them neither root nor branch,
says the LORD of hosts.
But for you who fear my name, there will arise
the sun of justice with its healing rays.
(Malachi 3:19)
That's good enough for me!
