Feria on the Monday

Dear Fathers, Brothers, Sisters in Christ

2 Samuel 5:1-7, 10
 Psalm 89:20, 21-22, 25-26
 Mark 3:22-30

Today's first reading tells us that King David became powerful because the Lord was with him. As today's responsorial psalm says, "My faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him."

We, too, have God's faithfulness and mercy with us, ever since our Baptism. We must not forget this! It's a very personal reality. We could even substitute our own name in the responsorial psalm, and realize that God could say,
"My faithfulness and my mercy shall be with _______."

With the ever-constant presence of God and His mercy in our lives, we can bring Him to our homes, our workplaces, wherever we speak or act, even if we are shut-ins. The power of the Lord comes through surprising channels -- even you and me!

O Lord,
help me remember that you are with me,
and your faithfulness and your mercy will sustain me,
 no matter what happens today.
 In Jesus' holy name.
 Amen.
