Dear Fathers, Friends in Christ,
James 3:13-18
Psalm 19:8, 9, 10, 15
Mark 9:14-29
I DO BELIEVE, help my unbelief! (Mark 9:24)
How often do we think we believe in Christ, only to see our
faith crumble when put to the test? We like to think that our faith is solid like a rock. Yet when it comes right down to it, how little and weak and puny our faith really is!
We want our belief in Jesus to be strong and bold and unwavering, but only God can give us that kind of faith. That's
because faith is a gift. God wants to give us the gift of faith, but we must ask for it. So, the father's plea in today's gospel, "Help my unbelief!" can be our own. We too can pray like him.
O Lord, my faith is so weak and small!
I can't strengthen my faith by myself.
But You can, Lord; give me the gift of faith!
Help me to believe in You.
Give me more faith today.
O Jesus, I do believe in You!
Help my unbelief!
Amen.
