Dear Fathers, Friends in Christ ,
We honour and celebrate Saint Augustine , Father of the Church, very well known through his famous writings ' The Confessions'.
We live in a materialistic world , where the emphasis is very much on being rich and successful and have that eternal youthful look.Once we have reached a certain standard of living , we fail to be thankful and are always looking at gaining more material things. Movie starts make so much money that they dont even know how to spend it and their personal lives are usually very much in a mess.
We also live in transitory world, nothing remains the same very long and it is absolutely amazing how quickly our life passes by. And note , it does not only happen to me but also to you and I. On this Pilgrimage we remain restless until that moment when we can say : ' You made us for Yourself O Lord and our heart is restless until it rests in Thee. ( Lib 1,1-2, 2, 5-5 CSEL 3315)
I dont know how are you are on this journey through this barren land and whether you are happy with the way you are living, but this evening it might be an opportune time to ponder of those words I quoted and better still take a bit of time to read through Saint Augustine'confession. I think it would be worth your wile.
