Saint Joseph, the Worker

Dear Fathers, Friends in Christ,

Acts 5:27-33
 Psalm 34:2 and 9, 17-18, 19-20
 John 3:31-36

I am struck how the Sanhedrin keeps nagging the apostles. It shows their stubbornness and hardness of heart.

By contrast, it illustrates for us one of the most beautiful characteristics of holiness: transcendent gentleness.

It is evident in so many ways in the life of Christ and now in His followers.

It is a lesson for us, isn’t it?

They have conviction of the Spirit which empowers them and the Church in the service of God and their fellow men. It is not accomplished by brute force, but by the Incarnation of God becoming Man and His Resurrection from the Dead--Power greater than man ever has known, yet invited by Grace to participate in and with.

The Lord is Risen as He promised!

 Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
