Saint Nicholas in the Netherlands


Dear Fathers, Friends in Christ, 
I was born in The Hague Netherlands , where on 5 December each year we celebrate Saint Nicholas. It is the time when the Dutch exchange gifts and each traditional food for Saint Nicholas , e.g. Almond spekulaas, or Almond Cake , see the picture below:

It was and still is a very family orientated occasion and brings a lot of memories back for me on a night like this . As you understand .. parents , uncles , aunts , grandparents no longer with us. I treasure it in my memory. 
Rest me to wish my Dutch Friends a happy time , and all those who are Dutch on Facebook.

Pastores en lieve vrienden in Christus, 
Vandaag viert men in Nederland Sint Nicolaas. Al hoe wel lange tijd in Australie , daar ik zelf in Nederland ( den Haag ) geboren ben  denk ik op deze avond terug aan die goede oude tijd. Het was en is nog een feest voor familie en vrienden. Maar 
ouders, groot ouders, ooms en tantes zijn er niet meer , ik denk met dank in mijn hart aan hen terug. 
Tot besluit wens ik al mijn Nederlandse vrienden en Nederlanders op Facebook een fijne avond.
