The most Sacred Heart of Jesus

Dear Fathers, Friends in Christ,

'Sinners--Beloved and Redeemed'

The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

...that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.
Ephesians 3:17

Travelers sometimes fret about what to wear. The greatest fear and even sin, it seems, is to "look like a tourist." Whatever you do, you don't want to appear to be a part of that group of unsophisticated gawkers.

But then you arrive in that new, exciting place, and it hits you: everyone's a tourist. And no matter how hard you try to think you're not, you are one of them--us.

Our lives are a dynamic of the desire to feel singular and the yearning to be part of a group. On this feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, perhaps I can set aside my ego, look up to Jesus on the cross, then look around at my fellow travelers and be glad, not ashamed, to be a part of this group: sinners yet beloved and redeemed by that loving Heart.
