Our God put Abraham to the test." (Genesis 22:1)
When we are in the midst of one of life's terrible storms, beyond our comprehension, perhaps it is not so much a test, as an invitation. Because God loves us, He desires that we depend totally on Him, a state of heart and mind that develops only through time and suffering.
"You will either not respond to God's desire and begin to retreat in your faith, or, like Abraham, you will decide to entrust yourself to Him in the darkness of faith. Then your faith, your hunger for Christ and His redemption, and your hunger for grace will grow in you. To the extent of this hunger, the Holy Spirit will be able to descend in your heart."
