'Struggling to Greater Grace'
The man then said, "Let me go, for it is daybreak." But Jacob said, "I will not let you go until you bless me."
Genesis 32:27
We often take for granted the gifts that come easily. Maybe we're good at math or English, for example, or perhaps patience or forgiveness seems to be part of our DNA. Conversely, the victories we mark in the difficult places, whether they involve home repairs or chemistry tests or controlling our temper, can seem all the sweeter for the effort they take.
Our relationship with God can be that way too. When things are going smoothly, our prayer life and faith can become a little superficial. The struggles with pride, fear and other challenges aren't always fun or easy. But when we wrestle to keep God foremost in our lives in times of trial, we reach new levels of dependence on him...and find that that richer faith is more than worth the battle scars.
