The Healing Light of the Holy Spirit |
Matthew 18:15-20
In today's Gospel, we learn the importance of being receptive to correction. Though few of us particularly like recognizing the wrong we have done, being aware of our faults and shortcomings is essential and the beginning for positive change.
It is called self-knowledge, and without it, our progress toward our ultimate goal of heaven is obscured. We can begin by asking ourselves two questions: How well are we loving God, and how well are we loving our neighbour?
Regular examination of our conscience (nightly is suggested) is a holy exercise that invites the Holy Spirit to shine His revealing and healing light on us that we may see ourselves as God sees us and do with His help, what is required.
Let us pray to be receptive to the help of our ultimate Good Friend and let Him lovingly correct us, and for our part, may we lovingly submit to His directions.
