Dear Fathers , Friends in Christ,
'What Song Do We Sing?'
Sing to the LORD a new song,
who has done wondrous deeds.
Psalm 98:1
Psalm 98 urges us to sing a new song. That directive raises a good question: What song are we singing--not merely with our lips, but with our lives? When people see us, hear us or interact with us, what song do they hear coming from us? Is it a song of sorrow, anxiety or complaining? Or is it a song of joy, trust and gratitude?
If it is the former, then maybe we have to get in touch again with the "wondrous deeds" God is doing in our personal lives and in our world. Perhaps we are taking for granted that we have decent health, ample food and shelter, a few good friends and freedoms others would envy. And instead of focusing only on the dismal news on page one of the newspaper, maybe we have to delve deeper and find out whether we can read some heartwarming stories.
