Feria for the Wednesday ... Jesus preaching and teaching.

Dear Fathers, Friends in Christ,

Isaiah 10:5-7, 13b-16
 Psalm 94:5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 14-15
 Matthew 11:25-27

When Jesus moved about Galilee to preach and to heal, He was often confronted by His enemies who wanted to trip Him up. They kept looking for a weakness in His teaching or behavior to shame Him out of His ministry. Instead, they found themselves shamed out of their public efforts to humiliate Him, again and again.

That is why in today's gospel, Jesus expresses such gratitude to His Father, because it was not the learned who came after Him to humiliate Him, who could see Him for who He is, but rather "the childlike," those who had the openness to Him that children have to their parents and those around them.

This, in turn, should encourage us to be childlike towards Christ to receive all that the Father wants to give us through Him.
