Feria on Thursday - The Kingdom of God is at hand

Dear Fathers, Friends in Christ,

Revelation 5:1-10
 Psalm 149:1b-2, 3-4, 5-6a and 9b
 Luke 19:41-44

There is mention of weeping in both today's First Reading
 and in the Gospel.

St. John weeps because he thinks there is no one worthy to open the scroll and read and understand the word of God imprinted on it. Jesus weeps over Jerusalem because she did not recognize that He was her Messiah.

During this Liturgical season, the Church reminds us that there is still cause for weeping when we behave like there is no means for our salvation.

Yet, as we know, God revealed to us in the person of Jesus that there is a means, there is a way.

"I am the Way," Jesus said, "the Truth, the Life."

Weep then when you have forgotten this message and weep for those who have ignored it, but remember that as long as you have life within you, the Book of Life is still open for you, and rejoice that God has given you the grace to know, love and serve Him.

Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand.
