Feria on the Tuesday

Dear Fathers, Friends in Christ,

Luke 10:21-24

Sometimes, we are tempted to feel that the followers of Jesus had it over us because they lived, walked and ate with Him. Jesus did say, after all in today's gospel, that there were prophets and kings who wished to hear and see what they did, and did not do so.

However, it may be that we have something over them. When Jesus said that He knew the Father, and could make Him known to anyone He chose, Jesus' followers did not know anything about the Holy Spirit, the indwelling of the Holy Trinity, or receiving Holy Communion. Unlike them, the saints experienced these, and we can too.

Still, in this life, we will not fully experience them until we see our Lord face-to-face. Until then, like Jesus' followers, and the saints, we live by faith, and not by sight receiving gratefully in our hearts the knowledge of the Father our Lord desires to share with us in the Holy Spirit.
