Feria on Monday

Dear Fathers, Friends in Christ,

1 Corinthians 11:17-26, 33

St. Paul wrote to the Corinthians concerning their bad habit of eating at the Eucharist while others were going hungry. Did not the Lord teach that we were to feed the hungry, along with other works of mercy like clothing the naked and burying the dead?

To remedy the situation, St. Paul invoked the memory of the Lord's Supper which had been handed down to him.

St. Paul also added a theological interpretation to the Lord's Supper which is not found in the synoptics when he wrote:

"For as often as you eat this Bread and drink the Cup,
you proclaim the death of the Lord until He comes."
(1 Corinthians 11:26)
