Feria on the Thursday

Dear Fathers, Brothers, Sisters in Christ,

2 Samuel 7:18-19, 24-29
 Psalm 132:1-2, 3-5, 11, 12, 13-14
 Mark 4:21-25

The measure with which you measure will be measured out to you.
(see Mark 4:24)

This axiom in today's Gospel is preceded by words that tell us we aren't only expected to hear, but also to heed what we hear.

This suggests we have the ability to know and understand what we ought to do, and the wherewithal to do it.

This is no small matter and leaves no room for poor excuses about not knowing, understanding or being able to do something positive.

God is not asking the impossible, but only that we be wholly mindful of ourselves and others, and utilize His grace which clarifies our perceptions and purifies our response.
