Feria for the Saturday.... Jesus the Son of Man

Dear Fathers, Brothers, Sisters in Christ,

1 Kings 3:4-13
 Psalm 119:9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14
 Mark 6:30-34

JESUS COMMONLY called Himself the Son of Man.
The Church teaches that Jesus is totally human and totally divine. By His human nature He experienced sorrow, joy, hunger and all the human feelings that we do. He knew fatigue and the value of rest, which brings us to today's gospel reading. The apostles were giving Christ feedback on their spiritual mission. Christ realized that they must be fatigued so He said to them, "Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest awhile." (Mark 6:31)

People in developed countries often spend considerable amounts of money trying to stay well. Perhaps we might look at the suggestion of Christ and see how we might, if needed, incorporate more rest in our lives, and it is free!

I was always curious why people drive so fast going home from work. Granted, many have deadlines preparing meals and helping with their families, but is it always true?

If rest is good for our physical health, it is all the more so spiritually. We need quiet time in our lives, to reflect, to plan, and to enjoy the blessings God has granted each of us. Let us listen to our Divine Healer!
