Feria on the Monday after the Fourth Sunday in Lent

Dear Fathers, Brothers, Sisters in Christ,

Isaiah 65:17-21
 Psalm 30:2 and 4, 5-6, 11-12a and 13b
 John 4:43-54

At nightfall, weeping enters in, but with the dawn, rejoicing.

Things can look bleak. There may even be good reason to weep. Just as this couplet from today's psalm says: "At nightfall, weeping enters in."

Yet, with God, with faith in Him, there is solid reason to hope. There will be, in fact, rejoicing.

As these last few weeks of Lent wend their way toward Easter, things for us may seem dark. We may not know how a situation that concerns us will turn out. We may fear the worst. Yet, right now, right here, God is right in the midst of everything. We can be sure of that. Even if things seem to be a mess, God is with us in the mess! Yes, He is!

And where God is, there is reason to hope. We can hope that, soon, "with the dawn," there will be rejoicing!

O Lord,
although things may be dark and bleak for me right now,
I know that You are here with me.
Help me to hang on to You, Lord,
to trust in You, and to have hope.
 Amen.
