Feria Wednesday after the Fourth Sunday in Lent

Dear Fathers, Brothers, Sisters in Christ,

Isaiah 49:8-15
 Psalm 145:8-9, 13cd-14, 17-18
 John 5:17-30

Prior to Jesus, no one called God his father as frequently as Jesus did. Not only did Jesus call God his father, he also claimed that he knows God the Father as he knows himself.

This has given Christians a window into seeing how the relationship between God the Father, and God the Son works. God the Father has given everything of himself to his Son, and the Son has returned everything he received from the Father back to him.

It was for the purpose of sharing in this inner life of God that the Father sent his Son, and he renews that gift through the Holy Spirit. It is an inner life that involves sharing in this same intimate life of love that Jesus has with the Father, however partially. Although partial, we can nevertheless grow in our participation in this inner life of God through our faith in Jesus whom the Father had sent.
