Thursday after the Fifth Sunday in Lent ... the Grace of God

Dear Fathers, Friends in Christ,

Genesis 17:3-9
 Psalm 105:4-5, 6-7, 8-9
 John 8:51-59

In today's First Reading, we hear about the covenant relationship between God and Abraham and the consequences of keeping it or breaking it.

Hearing these words reminds us of what we deserve by sin and what we have received by God’s grace: another chance! Imagine it; we have another--yes, another chance!

Let us then take this opportunity that the grace of Lent offers us, and confess our sinfulness and the many ways we have spurned the covenant, and so be determined to sin no more.

Lent is a season not just of sorrow, but also a season of everlasting hope. The covenant has been renewed!

We await the Resurrection!
