On the road to Emmaus ( Saint Luke 24, 13-35
God as a stranger in our midst.
You, strangers as you are, God is in your midst.
You are invited as a guest at the table..
Bread is broken
Suddenly they recognize His Holy Ways
Their eyes open
It is Jesus Himself
It is Him, who spoke to us on the road, His Name is Jesus
But..He disappears
On the moment of the recognition , we have lost Him
We have no power over Him
He does not walk the earth with us anymore
But what remains is this
That He will be with us on the long journey of our lives and faith
In His Holy Word , which we may hear around His Holy Altar
He will be there and shall always be there
The breaking of the Holy Bread and the sharing
Here and now in in our daily lives
The experience is as strangers with their unbelief and disappointments
Will be filled with an intense joy and a strong faith
They feel a warm heart and being filled with intense happiness
This wonderful meeting
Makes them return to Jerusalem
What else could they do
Then going back to the people
And share their experience with others
And continue life's journey with that experience
Knowing that He is here and ever shall be
Amen
